A. The Secret Path in the Garden

It was a sunny Saturday morning when Lily visited her grandmother’s

countryside house.

Grandma’s garden was famous for its colourful flowers, tall trees, and, most importantly, its mysteries.

“Lily, I have a secret challenge for you today,” Grandma whispered with a playful smile.

“Follow the clues carefully, and you’ll find a treasure.”

Lily’s eyes sparkled with excitement. Grandma handed her a small card.

The first clue read: Look under the big oak tree.

Lily ran to the giant oak tree standing proudly at the centre of the garden. She knelt down and peeked under its thick roots.

There, hidden beneath some fallen leaves, was a tiny box with the next clue:

Go behind the rose bush near the garden bench.

She dashed to the fragrant rose bush behind the old wooden bench.

Sure enough, taped to a branch was another note:

Find the rock next to the lily pond.

A person holds an envelope by a lily pond with green leaves and white flowers. A large rock is visible. The scene is serene and natural.

Lily hurried toward the peaceful lily pond. Next to a large smooth rock, she

spotted a shiny envelope.

Her heart raced as she opened it: Your treasure is inside the greenhouse.

The greenhouse stood at the end of the garden path. Lily pushed open the glass door and gasped.

There, on the table, was a beautiful golden box filled with her favourite candies.

“You did it, Lily!” Grandma cheered from the doorway.

“Thanks, Grandma! That was so much fun,” Lily laughed. “And I learned a lot about finding my way too!”

E. Difference Between "Inside" and "In" with Examples

Inside:

-Refers to being within the boundaries or confines of an enclosed space.

-Implies a stronger sense of enclosure or containment.

Examples:

a) The treasure was inside the greenhouse.

(emphasises being within a structure)

b) She found the gift inside the box. (enclosed space)

In:

-Used to indicate location within a space but doesn't necessarily imply it is enclosed.

-Can be used more broadly, including with open spaces or abstract contexts.

Examples:

a) Lily played in the garden. (The garden is not fully enclosed)

b) He is in the room. (General reference without strong focus on boundaries)

Usage Tip:

"inside" is typically preferred when emphasising containment, whereas "in" works for broader or less defined spaces.

If you're unsure, remember that "inside" often makes the image of being within something more vivid.
